The Black Summer Truffle also known as Scorzone, is the most common among edible truffles thanks to its abundance and ease of storage. It ripens mainly from May to October, but can be found almost all year round, especially in the woods of the Apennines. It has a black peridium with large pyramidal warts, the gleba develops from a whitish to hazelnut colour.
The veins are tight, slender and whitish in colour.
